Malak/ Messengers

Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained Messengers (Angels) unawares

Enoch 61:1 And I saw in those days how long cords were given to those angels, and they took to themselves wings and flew, and they went towards the north. 2 And I asked the angel, saying unto him: 'Why have those (angels) taken these cords and gone off?' And he said unto me: 'They have gone to measure.'

When you image search what an Angel is on the internet there are all kinds of descriptions from small children to adults and so forth with feathery wings on their backs and Halos on their heads. If we do some digging in the actual scriptures it's interesting to see what these beings really are.

The Hebrew letters for this word are: מלאך (Mem/Lamed/Aleph/Caph). Malak means Messenger plain and simple.

The Greek translation of the Hebrew word Malak is Aggelos and in Latin, Angelus which of course later became Angel to us.

This word is Hebrew in origin so it makes no sense for me to use the Greek rendering Aggelos or English Angel. Using Messenger gives me a better idea of their function and removes stereotype descriptions people have of these beings.

The most common throughout the scriptures is the Messenger. These have no wings and can be mistaken for mere men. Hence the scripture above in Hebrews, you may be entertaining Messengers unawares. These are the same beings that the Greeks refer to as Aggelos and in Latin, Angelus.

The Angel type that was set to guard the entrance to the Garden of Eden was the Cherubim. No real description of them is given in this instance therefore we need to go further into scripture to find what they appear as. If we look in Exodus it explains them further for instructions on building the Ark of the Covenant.

Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Exodus 25:18 And thou shalt make two Cherubims [of] gold, [of] beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.

Exodus 25:19 And make one Cherub on the one end, and the other Cherub on the other end: [even] of the mercy seat shall ye make the Cherubims on the two ends thereof.

Exodus 25:20 And the Cherubims shall stretch forth [their] wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces [shall look] one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the Cherubims be.

There is also a description in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 1:1-28. When you read it you can help think he's seeing something more like a craft device and less an angelic description.

Eze 10:1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the Cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

Eze 10:15 And the Cherubims were lifted up. This [is] the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.

Enoch 20:7 Gabriel, one of the holy 8 angels, who is over Paradise and the Serpents and the Cherubim. Remiel, one of the holy angels, whom God set over those who rise ...

Seraphim - שרפים (Strongs # 08314) (Shin/Reish/Peh/Yud/Mem)

Isa 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

Isa 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, [which] he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

It's also used in this context:

Num 21:6 So then Yahweh sent Fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. (Fiery is placed in here and the word Seraphim is used as you can clearly see in the Hebrew text)

WTT Numbers 21:6

וישׁלח יהוה בעם את הנחשׁים השׂרפים וינשׁכו את־העם וימת עם־רב מישׂראל׃

This could be read as: So then Yahweh sent "Seraphim Serpents" among the people.

ArchAngel - Αρχαγγελος (Strongs # 743)

(Alpha/Rho/Chi/Alpha/Gamma/Gamma/Epsilon/Lambda/Omicron/Sigma)

There is also the reference of an ArchAngel which is used in 2 places in the Greek Scriptures.

1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Jud 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

I don't see this as meaning an entirely new class of angels. It looks like another one of these Greek words that finds it's way into scripture. There is no mention of this classification in Hebrew. The Greek scriptures came well after the Hebrew ones, so I don't think two occurances is enough to justify there are these Arch Angels.

I'll have to search other books that were left out of the Bible to see if there is anymore mention of them elsewhere.

The Four Living Creatures

Ezek. 1:5, 15; Rev. 4:6, 8; 5:6, 8, 14; 6:1, 6; 7:11; 14:3; 15:7; 19:4

WTT Ezekiel 1:5

ומתוכה דמות ארבע חיות וזה מראיהן דמות אדם להנה׃

Ezekiel 1:5 And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness,

Revelation 4:6 and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind:

Revelation 4:6 (BGT) καὶ ἐνώπιον τοῦ θρόνου ὡς θάλασσα ὑαλίνη ὁμοία κρυστάλλῳ. Καὶ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ θρόνου καὶ κύκλῳ τοῦ θρόνου τέσσαρα ζῷα γέμοντα ὀφθαλμῶν ἔμπροσθεν καὶ ὄπισθεν.

These are also referred to as Four Living Beasts in some Translations. They don't appear to be the Messenger Variety and they only appear by Yahweh's Throne.

Here are the 7 Angels mentioned in the Book of Enoch by name and their functions:

Enoch 20:1 And these are the names of the holy angels who watch. Uriel, one of the holy angels, who is 3 over the world and over Tartarus. Raphael, one of the holy angels, who is over the spirits of men. 4,5 Raguel, one of the holy angels who takes vengeance on the world of the luminaries. Michael, one 6 of the holy angels, to wit, he that is set over the best part of mankind and over chaos. Saraqâêl, 7 one of the holy angels, who is set over the spirits, who sin in the spirit. Gabriel, one of the holy 8 angels, who is over Paradise and the serpents and the Cherubim. Remiel, one of the holy angels, whom God set over those who rise.

These could perhaps be the Chief Messengers that the two Greek occurances are referring to as Arch Angels.

Other names for these beings as a whole:

Host/ Hosts = צבאם (Strongs # 06635) (Tzadik/Beth/Aleph/Mem)

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Sons of Elohim = בני האלהים (Beth/Nun/Yud - Heh/Aleph/Lamed/Heh/Yud/Mem)

Gen 6:2 That the Sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Watcher = עיר (Ayin/Yud/Reish)

Daniel 4:13 I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven - KJV

Daniel 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. - KJV

Daniel 4:23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and [let] his portion [be] with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him; - KJV (Notice the distinction made here between a Watcher and a Holy One)

Getting back to the most common in scripture the Malak or Messenger.

Knowing they aren't beings with wings and are messengers in this 3D realm don't be surprised they get around using craft.

The Pillar of Cloud:

Exodus 13:21 And Yahweh went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

UFO Cloud Ship

Here’s a couple interesting scriptures from the Book of Enoch:

Enoch 61:1 And I saw in those days how long cords were given to those angels, and they took to themselves wings and flew, and they went towards the north. 2 And I asked the angel, saying unto him: 'Why have those (angels) taken these cords and gone off?' And he said unto me: 'They have gone to measure.'

They had to take wings to fly? Probably referring to a ship or craft of some sort.

Here's another perplexing verse from Enoch. Could they actually be referring to UFO's and so forth that have crashed on the Earth? Perhaps it's a test from God to see what they would do with advanced technologies. Would they help mankind with them or would they rather turn them into weapons to destroy one another? It specifically says "instrument" referring to a physical device of some kind.

Enoch 53:3 For I saw all the angels of punishment abiding (there) and preparing all the instruments of Satan.4 And I asked the angel of peace who went with me: 'For whom are they preparing these Instruments?

Enoch 53:5 And he said unto me: 'They prepare these for the kings and the mighty of this earth, that they may thereby be destroyed.

The Star of Bethlehem was obviously a ship as it moved and positioned itself for the Astrologers to follow it, however this was piloted by Serpent beings whom wished Jesus killed. There are 3D things such as the Ephod, The Ark of the Covenant, the Temple and so forth that mankind has interacted with in the past.
